The parents are: a Normal double split cock bird X an Aqua Olive double split hen bird.
Although not for sale at present, we are hand feeding an "Aqua Dilute Melanistic" ( Oct 2007 )
at the moment which hatched on 8-8-2007.
This new colour gets the artistic juices flowing as the colour reminds you of a water colour painting.
If you think about how many people like soft water colours, then that may give you an indication as to how popular
this colour is going to be.
At present this new colour is still a bit hard to breed because it comes about, supposedly one in sixteen chicks.
Now that we are breeding: Dilute poss split Melanistic. and Melanistic poss split Dilute, (all of these birds can have an
Aqua factor involved) this process may be
sped up a bit.
At the same token, the birds we have bred, from the pair of double splits we have kept back, have to date produced:
Olive Bluefronted Melanistic poss split Dilute, Aqua Olive Bluefronted Melanistic poss split Dilute, Dilute poss split Blue Fronted Melanistic, Mustard poss split
Blue Fronted Melanistic,Aqua Dilute poss split Blue Fronted Melanistic, Aqua Bluefronted Melanistic poss split Dilute and the aforementioned new "Dilute Aqua Melanistic".
At the moment there are very few full coloured birds on the perch that I'm aware of.
So if you are interested in breeding a new colour, a pair off double splits is a good start.
We can provide all the specifications on combinations of what these birds can produce bred to
another Double split,(Grey Green & Normal split to Dilute and Blue Fronted Melanistic Rainbow ) only to say that it can produce
Dilute, Mustard, Blue Fronted Melanistic, Olive Blue fronted Melanistic
and the two new colours : Dilute Melanistic and Khaki (Olive) Dilute Melanistic as primary colours, plus all the split combinations.
