Pied Rainbows

The pied Rainbows are our latest acquisition. This colour makes people take a second look. These birds have an extremely long future with many colours still to come from this mutation. The pieds in these photos are young birds going through their first moult and will still colour up twice as much again. There are exciting times ahead in the lorikeet group and this mutation will play a big part in it. The pieds are Co/Dominant in their genetic make up, splits (or streakies) are considered to be Single Factor and coloured pieds Double Factor. These pieds were bred out of two splits like the one shown.
